Cranksgiving in June
You've probably heard of Cranksgiving, races held each year near Thanksgiving to collect food to donate to local food banks. Ypsi Velo has been happy to help out with the local Cranksgiving the past two years, the last of which brought in an impressive half-ton of food for Food Gatherers.
Food Gatherers, the food bank for Washtenaw County, sees a lot of generosity around the holidays at the end of the year, but the need for donations is high year around, especially now. With that in mind, Ypsi Velo decided to hold a Cranksgiving in June, the same idea, just earlier in the year.
- Where: Recreation Park
Corner of N. Congress and Oakwood St.
Ypsilanti, MI - When: June 27, 2009, 6 - 8 pm
- What: You'll have two hours to race to local grocery stores and buy food for Food Gatherers.
- Bring:A bicycle, a bag (or trailer!) and money for food
- Ride safe: helmets and lights recommended
- See the Facebook event.
Links to signs and various media can be found here. For more information, contact info@ypsivelo.org.
Note: are you a business or organization that is wanting to help out with Cranksgiving in June? Ypsi Velo is looking for anything we can use as prizes for racers. Send us an e-mail if you are interested to info@ypsivelo.org.
